| Country
towns are shaped by their history, and by the waves of inhabitants
who have lived in them over the years. In the Alpine High Country
our villages tell many different stories, of the early settlers,
the mountain cattlemen, the gold rush, the many migrants who came
here after both world wars.
More recently, the villages have become the focal point for the
food and wine of this region, and the base for lots of adventure
activities. Festivals and events are also well-established bringing
back visitors year after year for celebrations including the Bright
Autumn Festival and the Omeo Easter Rodeo.
